No Goof Off!

I just finished scraping a large gallery price label off the side of an expensive frame. Arghh! Just because there are products like Goof Off® for removing labels and tape doesn't mean you can stick just anything on a piece of artwork.

The adhesive on a typical label is permanent. It cures in a day or two and then becomes difficult to remove cleanly. The same is true for transparent tape. So the identification label you put on the frame or the entry form taped to the back yesterday is now a permanent part of the artwork. And when you remove it next month, you risk damaging the frame or tearing the backing paper.

Fortunately, removable labels and tape are available that have a re-positionable adhesive. It stays tacky and doesn't cure, making later removal easy ... much like a sticky note. It's safer for the artwork, and you can put the Goof Off® away.
